Blog Session 6:
 Zygmunt Bauman

Hi classmet today a talking about of Zygmunt Bauman.

Zygmunt bauman was a Polish sociologist and philosopher of jewish origin. His works is ccharacterized by topics such as social class, socialims, the holocaust, hermeneutics, the modernity, the postmodernity, consumerism, globalization and new poverty. he developed the concept of liquid modernity a concept used enough the last time.

Bauman was born on november 19, 1925 in Poznan, Poland. When Poland was invaded by Nazi Germany, in 1939, he and his family escaped to Soviet Union. Bauman then enlisted in the Soviet-controlled Frist Polish Army, working as a political intructor. When he return to Poland, Bauman studied sociology at the University of Warsaw in Academy of political and social science. Later he militated in the communist party and he was a professor of philosophy and sociology at the University of Warsaw. Before die bauman criticised zionism and israel.

Bauman's most famous book, is a Modernity and the Holocaust is an attempt to give a full account of the dangers of those kinds of fears. Bauman developed the argument that the Holocaust should not simply be considered to be an event in Jewish history, nor a regression to pre-modern barbarism.

other inmportant book is a Postmodernity and consumerism
his books have tried to avoid the confusion surrounding the term "postmodernity" by using the metaphors of "liquid" and "solid" modernity, concepts that would be more appropriate for today's society.

I like bauman for its concepts and its good descrption of postmodern society.
